Presidents Comments March 2015

The Whyalla Chamber of Commerce and Industry will commence its calendar of Business Networking and Professional Development Forums for 2015, on Monday March 16th. 

Over the last few months, members of the Executive have been planning and organizing a number of events for the coming year and we are looking forward to providing once again, the opportunity for our members and their staff, to come together.

Our first Business Networking event, will feature an interactive discussion on one of our major industries Santos (Whyalla) and will also be an opportunity to introduce Mrs Leigh Staines, who is the new Port Bonython Plant Manager.

Leigh brings to Santos an eclectic mix of processing engineering, operations and maintenance, management consulting, project development and commercial work experience, as well as overseas experiences.

We are very much looking forward to introducing Leigh to the business community of Whyalla and letting her get to know some of our key business leaders, owners, managers and staff.

As I previously mentioned, this event will be held on Monday March 16th, commencing at  6-00pm for a 6-30pm start and will be held at the Quest Playford Apartments (our event sponsor), Darling Terrace.  So if you have not registered yet, then please do so, thought our new website address, www.wcci.org.au and follow the prompt, “click to register”, or alternatively email your notification to secretary@wcci.org.au

The Chamber will be very active during March and April with networking events, which will provide some insight into what is taking place locally and nationally. Although we are still finalising some of these, I can say, that one of these presentations will be held in April with Juanita Walker from Whyalla Aged Care, presenting information on their upgrade project.

This is a major project for Whyalla, and the Chamber Executive is certain that this will be a great presentation on the future of Whyalla’s Aged Care accommodation, so look out for our invitation coming through soon.

Over that last few months the Chamber’s website has had a dramatic facelift and I am pleased to provide some initial details on the change. Our new website is www.wcci.org.au and contains a number of documents and pictures relating to our Awards Dinner, Business of the Month recipients and President’s comments for example.

Our focus will be to provide relevant links and information to the business community, at the same time, making it easy to navigate through.

In closing, the Chamber Executive looks forward to seeing you at our programmed events and networking with our featured presenters and other business owners, managers and staff.
